She is a Labrador Retriever cross Golden Retriever whose both parents are Guide Dogs. Born on 13th June 2000, she has now started training to be a guide dog herself.
At the moment, she is living with "puppy walkers" who will accustom her to everyday noises and activities. She needs to have as many varied experiences as possible and become fully socialised with human company.
The Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind will keep me updated all through her training until she (hopefully) graduates and starts looking after someone full-time!
I am one of many prople sponsoring Zola - it makes it a little cheaper than paying for all her training myself!
I find the idea of puppy sponsorship extremely rewarding - it isn't costing me much, and if she gets through the training (considering her parentage; it should be a doddle for her!) she will be a very important part of another person's life.Go to www.rnzfb.org.nz or call 0800 PUPPIES (0800 787 743) and ask about Blind Puppy Sponsorship.
PS - if you have a dog and feed it Champ dog food then save the labels and send them to: Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind, Private Bag 99910, Newmarket, Auckland.
Heinz Watties donate 10 cents to Guide dog Services for each label.
