Tunisia '99

In April we went for a short break in Tunisia.  Just a week.

As a quick getaway, it did the trick - we were able to visit different places in the mornings, then go back to the hotel to lay by the pool for the afternoons (well, most days, anyway!)

The timing was good: we were still off-season priceways, but the weather was good for the most part.  We had lovely warm days and balmy evenings.  A lot of people will consider it too hot by July (not Cherie - there's no such thing as too hot as far as she's concerned).

Tunisia is a fascinating country with remnants of its past conquerers everywhere, from the Roman Ampitheatre at El Jem to the French love of wine and food...

And there are olive groves everywhere...
